How to do it
- Take the photo in front of a plain white wall, in even light, looking straight at the camera.
- Leave the template on India passport (Passport Seva upload).
- Add your photo and drag the crop box so your head fills about 80–85% of the height, with all of your hair and your chin inside.
- Check that the result shows 630 × 810 px and a file size inside the limit, then download it and upload it.
Common mistakes
- A shadow or an off-white wall. The background must be plain white.
- Cropping too tight (cutting off hair or chin) or too loose (a small face).
- Filters or retouching, which the guidelines do not allow.
- Using a square photo. The portrait ratio is 35:45, and the crop box is locked to it.
