How to do it
- Leave the template on US passport (online upload).
- Add your photo and drag the square crop box so your head and shoulders are centred, with some room around your face.
- Check that the file size is inside the window, then download it.
Common mistakes
- A file under 54 KB (too small or over-compressed). This tool raises the size to reach the minimum.
- A shadow on the background or a patterned wall.
- An old photo. It must be from the last 6 months.
- Cropping so tight that there is no room around the face.
Frequently asked questions
Do I even need a tool to resize it?
Often not. The upload accepts large files and lets you crop in the portal. This is mainly useful when your photo is too small, too large, or not square.
What is the file size limit?
Between 54 KB and 10 MB.
Is this the same as the US visa photo?
No. Visa photos have different digital rules (600–1200 px, up to 240 KB). See the US visa photo guide.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. It is processed in your browser only.
