Optional. Only for photos you share, not for official forms. The tool still keeps the file under your Max size.

Nothing is uploaded. Your photo never leaves this device.
How can I be sure?

Resizing runs in your browser using your own device. Switch your Wi-Fi off after this page has loaded and the tool keeps working, which would be impossible if photos went to a server. You can also open your browser's developer tools, look at the Network tab, and watch that nothing is sent.

Quick facts

ShapeSquare (height equals width)
FormatJPEG / JPG
Pixels200 × 200 minimum, 900 × 900 maximum. This template makes 600 × 600.
File sizeUp to 200 KB. A few mission pages list higher limits (up to 500 KB and 1500 px), so 200 KB is the safe choice.
FaceAbout 80% of the photo
Printed photoSquare, not smaller than 51 × 51 mm, matte finish. Do not staple it or sign it.

How to do it

  1. Leave the template on India OCI: photo.
  2. Choose your photo, or drag it onto the box. Rotate it if it came in sideways.
  3. Drag the crop box so your face fills about 80% of the square (the dashed guide helps).
  4. Check the result list: dimensions, KB and format should all show a tick. Download the file and upload it on the OCI portal.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an OCI photo be in pixels?

Between 200 × 200 and 900 × 900 pixels, and square. This tool uses 600 × 600, which sits comfortably inside the range.

What is the maximum file size for the OCI photo?

Most Indian mission pages say 200 KB. A few list 500 KB with larger pixel limits. If you stay under 200 KB and 900 px you meet both.

The portal still rejects my photo. What now?

Check that the file is a JPEG, square, under 200 KB and between 200 and 900 pixels. Try the Custom template with a smaller size such as 500 × 500, and make sure you upload the file you just downloaded, not a copy re-saved by another app.

Is my photo uploaded to your server?

No. The resizing happens inside your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
